Company history of Vfw GmbH
Vfw has been a specialist in the area of the take-back and recycling of packaging, batteries and electrical devices since 1991.
Today Vfw belongs to the Reverse Logistics Group (RLG), the leading specialist in reverse logistics. More than 2,500 customers and partners trust in the efficiency and quality of Vfw products.
- 2010
- Vfw’s dual system undergoes a successful audit carried out by Cyclos GmbH, a leading independent audit company in the field of waste management and material flow management.
- All eight sector-specific solutions are successfully audited by DEKRA Certification GmbH.
- Approx. 15 percent of the letters of representation successfully deposited are from Vfw customers.
- 2009
- On 1 January 2009, the 5th amendment of the packaging directive (VerpackV) comes into force.
- The operation of Vfw’s dual system and sector-specific solutions is launched.
- 2008
- Vfw’s eight sector-specific solutions are certified by DEKRA Certification GmbH and notified to the relevant regional authorities.
- The number of Vfw customers rises from approx. 600 to 2,000 – including some 500 customers subject to mandatory VE.
- 2007
- Vfw receives nationwide authorisation as a dual system.
- Reverse Logistics (Group) GmbH, Munich, acquires 100% of the shares of Vfw.
- 2006
- Trans-o-flex acquires Vfw Thermomed.
- Vfw implements a take-back system for old electronic devices.
- 2005
- Acquisition of Vfw by Deutsche Post Worldnet within the context of the Exel takeover.
- 2004
- Tibbet & Britten is sold with Vfw to Exel.
- 2003
- Tibbet & Britten acquires majority shareholding in Vfw.
- 2001
- Introduction of Vfw REBAU – a take-back system for sales and transport packaging from the construction industry.
- 1999
- Vfw becomes a public limited company.
- 1998
- Vfw introduces volumetric flow records for sales packaging for the first time.
- The take-back system Vfw RESERVICE is introduced for taking back packaging from specialist stockists.
- The new Vfw REBAT take-back system is launched for taking back and disposing of old household standard and rechargeable batteries.
- 1997
- With the introduction of Vfw REFLORA, the system operator enhances its product portfolio to include a take-back system for packaging from the green industry.
- 1996
- Vfw is certified for the first time under DIN ISO 9001 ff.
- 1995
- The Vfw REMEDICA take-back system is introduced and offers chemists the free take-back of packaging and expired medications.
- The first 4,000 pharmacies join Vfw REMEDICA.
- 1994
- With Vfw PHOTO, a new take-back system for sales packaging such as 35mm film containers is introduced.
- 1993
- The sector-specific solution Vfw RECOM is introduced for transport packaging of ZVEI brown goods (German Central Association for the Electrical Engineering and Electronics Industry, specialist association in entertainment electronics)
- 1991
- Founding of Vfw GmbH.
